Miller Concludes Sixteen Years of Service to Florida’s First District

1/3/2017

WASHINGTON — Jeff Miller’s service in the U.S. House of Representatives concludes today. First elected in a special election on October 16, 2001, Miller represented Florida’s First District for eight terms, serving as chairman of the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs from 2011 through 2017.

As chairman, Miller led the committee’s response to the 2014 VA wait-time scandal and shepherded a series of bipartisan veterans bills into law, capped by the Jeff Miller and Richard Blumenthal Veterans Health Care and Benefits Improvement Act, signed in December 2016.

Rep. Matt Gaetz, elected in November 2016, succeeds Miller as the representative for Florida’s First District.
